As if enough weren’t already perished,
As if my soul thirst’d for despair.
As if my heart weren’t shattered to bits,
As if my eyes weren’t turned to dust.
He stumbled upon,
A face unknown,
A face not dreamed,
A face he fancied.
My lungs did breathe,
My cheeks did blush
My eyes did open wide.
To welcome in the love un-did, no friend but nay a foe.
What once did turn from rain to shine,
Did now turn into scorching heat.
To find the one that ne’er did love,
But merely reached to heal the wounds.
Can’t lie.
